The Banquette is a Pinterest wish list realized. #PinterestWin We used to have desks occupying the space where The Banquette is, when we moved them over to the corner, we had a huge empty space and had to figure out how to fill it with something useful. The windows didn’t allow for a traditional kitchen display so when we came across The Banquette idea, we were all in.
Well…not really, the crew was skeptical at first. And throughout the process, well the whole process, but we had a vision and were determined to make it come true.
The cabinets used for The Banquette are from the Aristokraft Cabinetry line. The door style is Wentworth and the color is Quill.
Countertops
Overall, The Banquette required 3 slabs of quartz. The color used here is Statuario Fiona Quartz. It’s soft white background and brown/gold veins compliment the natural wood cabinet color beautifully. If brown and gold warm tones are not your vibe, no worries, there is a color called Statuario Mist which is the same pattern with a gray vein. The background on Statuario Mist is slightly brighter white than Fiona. These two color options are sure to fit your design pallet no matter which side of the color pallet you are aiming for.
We knew we needed some cushions for seating and originally were going to make the seats and seat backs out of cushions. However, we are a stone company so why not make the seat out of stone? We went for it again. This meant a double waterfall edge from the countertop and the seat down to the floor. Not difficult in theory, but requires precise execution.
For the table top, we wanted to keep the earth tones flowing. This slab of Elegant Brown Quartzite was the perfect match. The Suede finish on the Quartzite further offers some texture and natural finishes to the design.

There aren’t many cabinets used in this display, despite the large footprint it takes up. There are only 4 traditional cabinets which compose the sink run and seven 12″ wall cabinets that makeup the seating section. We could have made it easier on ourselves and used wall cabinets for the backsides of the seats but we wanted this to be as functional as possible so we decided to add more seating along the sides. This meant quite a bit of construction but nothing too challenging.
Hardware
The Matte Black hardware brings some masculinity to this design. The light, airy, earth tones compliment the black and natural wood colors in the table and bench seat.
These cabinet pulls are in The Allison line by Amerock. Shown here in 5-1/16″ (198 mm) Center-to-Center, finished in Champagne Bronze. Also available in:
- Polished Chrome
- Champagne Bronze
- Satin Nickel
- Oil Rubbed Bronze
We found a local craftsman to make the custom, live edge bench for this display. We chose a finished Pin Oak wood with a natural stain and rod iron, matte black legs to match the rest of the display.
