Granite
They chose Portofino Gold Granite which is a fairly consistent patterned stone. The major colors in this stone are brown, black and cream with notes of rust tones throughout. Their light maple cabinets match perfectly with the browns in the stone. To add more style they chose cream colored cabinets for the base of their island which compliments the Portofino Gold granite very well.
Mike & Kristi went with an Ogee edge profile and a four inch granite backsplash for their kitchen. Their kitchen is considered a large kitchen being over 70 square foot.
Portofino Gold is considered a beautiful stone that is labeled a Category B stone. The Marble Institute of America (MIA) has been the authoritative source of information of natural stone for over 70 years. The MIA assign categories to all Granites, Marbles and other natural stones. Categories are based a variety of factors including color variation, movement and composition of the stone.
